AtomicSeller sends the shipment and customs information to Colissimo during label creation. When a CN23 is required and the data is accepted, Colissimo returns the transport label and the CN23 document.
Before creating the label #
Confirm that the Colissimo service is correctly configured and that the order contains:
- a complete sender address;
- a complete international recipient address;
- a valid destination country and postcode;
- the recipient’s email and telephone details when required;
- parcel weight;
- EORI number where applicable;
- and complete customs information for every product.
Step 1 — Open the order #
Open the order or delivery that is ready to be shipped. Check that the destination, selected Colissimo service and parcel configuration correspond to the physical shipment.
For a multi-parcel delivery, assign the correct products and quantities to each parcel.
Step 2 — Review the customs category #
Select the reason that best describes the shipment:
- gift;
- commercial sample;
- commercial goods;
- document;
- other;
- or returned goods.
A normal ecommerce sale should be declared as commercial goods. The “gift” category should not be used simply to reduce the recipient’s duties or taxes.
Step 3 — Check every product line #
Each physical item should contain:
- SKU or reference;
- precise description;
- quantity;
- net weight;
- unit value;
- HS code for commercial goods;
- and country of origin.
The description should identify the article itself. Avoid internal product names that have no meaning outside the company.
Step 4 — Verify values and totals #
The declared value must be consistent with the transaction:
- use the selling price for a commercial shipment;
- use a defensible customs value for a non-commercial shipment;
- include transport charges where the customs or carrier process requires them;
- and do not declare physical goods with a total value of zero.
The commercial or pro forma invoice must agree with the CN23 data.
Step 5 — Generate the Colissimo label #
Request the shipping label through the normal AtomicSeller shipping action.
AtomicSeller determines whether customs data must be included from the destination and selected service. It sends the parcel and product information to the Colissimo label service.
If required information is missing or inconsistent, Colissimo rejects the request and no valid label is produced.
Step 6 — Retrieve the documents #
When Colissimo accepts the request, AtomicSeller retrieves:
- the transport label;
- the tracking number;
- and the CN23 PDF when required.
Review the documents before dispatch, particularly after correcting an order or changing its parcel contents.
Step 7 — Complete the physical shipment #
Print and attach the documents required for the destination. Unless an explicitly supported paperless process applies, Colissimo generally requires:
- three CN23 copies attached to the parcel;
- one additional CN23 copy retained by the sender;
- and two copies of the commercial or pro forma invoice.
Place the accessible customs documents in a transparent adhesive pouch on the outside of the parcel, preferably next to the transport label.
Colissimo’s current technical documentation confirms that complete customs data is required before the label and CN23 can be generated: Colissimo label web-service documentation.
