Generate and print a shipping label

This procedure explains how to generate, review, and print an order label from the order page, then outlines the packing workflow alternative.

Prerequisites #

  • The carrier account is configured and Check connection succeeds.
  • The order has a complete address, products, weight, and a compatible shipping service.
  • The label format matches the printer in use.
  • You know whether a label already exists and whether the required action is printing or regeneration.

Important. Printing reuses an existing document. Regenerating may create a new shipment or tracking number, depending on the carrier; review existing documents before using this action.

Generate the label from the order #

  1. Open the order. From Orders to process or Search, select the relevant order.
  2. Review Delivery. Check the shipping service, product code, format, weight, date, and options.
  3. Save any corrections. Select Save before requesting the label.
  4. Open Documents. First check whether a label or tracking number already exists.
  5. Select Generate label. Wait for the carrier response and do not immediately start the action again.
  6. Review the document. Check its type, tracking number, creation date, format, and reference.
  7. Display the label. Use Display document to review the recipient, service, and barcode.
  8. Print the label. Use Print document with the expected printer and page format.

Alternative during packing #

  • In Orders packing, review the order, shipping service, weight, and parcels.
  • Use GenerateLabels to create the documents, then PrintLabels to print them.
  • Finish packing only after checking the label and parcel.

Other documents #

  • Generate return label creates a return label when supported by the carrier and contract.
  • Generate delivery documents creates any supplementary documents required by the process.

Expected result. A readable label appears in Documents with its format and, when supplied by the carrier, a tracking number; it is printed once for the relevant parcel.

Troubleshooting #

Generate label returns an error. Check the carrier connection, address, weight, service, product code, and required options.

No tracking number appears. Refresh Documents after the carrier response and review the log or error before trying again.

The document uses the wrong format. Correct the service or order label format, then regenerate only when required by the carrier.

The label exists but does not print. Use Display document to validate the file, then check the printer driver, page size, scaling, and queue.

Two labels were created. Use only one, identify the valid tracking number, and contact support before cancelling or regenerating again.
